At Home by High Awarded Grant from National Community Care Corps

Expanded model will help Columbus, OH’s older adults, caregivers, and target Milo-Grogan and LGBTQ+ residents

At Home by High announces that it was selected by the Community Care Corps to receive funds for volunteers assisting local older adults, caregivers, and target Milo-Grogan and LGBTQ+ residents. The amount of the grant is $54,331 for the period of October 1, 2021, through September 30, 2022.

At Home by High is among the awardees of Community Care Corps. This unprecedented program is a momentous leap forward in facilitating older adults, persons with disabilities, and family caregivers with much-needed non-medical assistance to ensure their ability to age within their community. At Home by High’s aid will benefit countless local individuals and families, generating a lasting impact on those served, as well as the volunteers serving our community.

Katie Beaumont, Executive Director of At Home by High noted that “this funding is the most substantial grant award our organization has received since our inception in 2017 allowing us to increase capacity long-term. Older adults in our community want to age differently - They want to remain in their homes and communities they love. They need direct service and supports to make that a reality. More local, county, and federal funding is still needed to support aging-in-place. ”

“We are pleased to make this award to At Home by High. Their excellent volunteer model was chosen over other outstanding programs across the country,” said Paul Weiss, President of The Oasis Institute which administers Community Care Corps.

Community Care Corps grants are being awarded to local organizations across the country to establish, enhance, and grow innovative volunteer models. Community Care Corps is granting $2.85 million to 33 innovative local programs nationwide, including At Home by High. The program was extremely competitive. One hundred twenty-six  organizations from 40 states including the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico requested funding for their programs totaling more than $13,188,882. Community Care Corps was able to award $2,850,750.00.

Tens of millions of Americans are in critical need of non-medical assistance to continue living in their homes. Many also need companionship to avert the devastating effects of isolation. Volunteer support is vital for individuals to maintain the ability to live independently and stay connected within their communities.

Community Care Corps, through a cooperative agreement with the federal Administration for Community Living (ACL),is led by four national non-profit organizations: The Oasis Institute, Caregiver Action Network, USAging, and Altarum.
